Detailed review
Brief opinion
« Churaivna Project is a digital library and visual archive dedicated to the cultural heritage of Poltava region. The site collects and publishes literary works, photographs and other materials illustrating the history and traditions of the region. The impression is a mix of nostalgia and discovery of little-known pages of local culture. »
The Churaivna Project impresses with its attention to details of Poltava region's local culture. It contains a large number of literary works that were previously available only in print or archives. Particularly valuable are poems by provincial authors that capture the spirit of their time and place.
The visual part of the archive is a real find for researchers. Photographs of Kremenchuk from 1970s-1990s, art reproductions and other materials create a vivid image of the region. Each item is accompanied by detailed metadata.
Despite the technically outdated implementation (basic Blogger template), the content part is very thorough. The lack of modern search is compensated by a well-thought-out system of categories and tags.
This project is an important step in preserving cultural heritage, revealing little-known pages of Poltava region's history to the general public. It is especially valuable for saving works that might have been lost to time forever.
